Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works at NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career as journalist for television and radio at the time in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Then she became a reporter with the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. In Washington the following year, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News a year later. In 1981 she started covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the show. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered at the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the administrations of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on a wide range of important stories like arm control, budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently together with the president Reagan to meet along with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world presidents.
